KATHMANDU, Nov 2: The government has decided to bring Janakpur Railway Company (JRC), which operates Janakpur-Jainagar railway, under the purview of Department of Railway (DoR) in the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works (MoPPW). A cabinet meeting held immediately after the India visit of Prime Minister Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai took the decision, paving the way for DoR to oversee management of the country´s sole and oldest rail service, which has been so far under the Ministry of Labor and Transport Management (MoLTM). “The government made the decision keeping in view the need to appoint a single authority, which is DoR now, to oversee all railway matters.
