KATHMANDU: Aiming to promote Danusha district and the entire Tarai region of Nepal, the Nepal Development Society (NDS) has produced two documentaries that tell about the cultural, religious and other aspects of that place. The documentaries entitled Aitihasik, Dharmik Tatha Paryatakiya Chhetra Danusha and Uttarayani Mela Dekhi Bandipur Mela Samma, were launched amidst a programme organised at Shital Niwas on November 4.

According to the documentary makers, the documentaries aim to enhance economical situation of Nepal by promoting the assets of the Tarai region which can be an attraction for national and international tourists. One of the documentaries, Aitihasik... has captured the scenic beauty of Jankpurdham, Uttardham, Nepal’s first and only railway station, and of water bodies. Also genuine as well as funny comments of the audience have been included in the documentary which make it interesting.

Chief guest President Dr Ram Baran Yadav expressed, “Janakpurdham situated in Dhanusha district is a religiously important place for all Hindus. If only people from Bihar, India seven crore populations could visit Dhanusha, it could make huge difference in the economic status of Tarai region and could enhance the life of people living there.”

Amrit Bahadhur Tamang, President of NDS shared, “We chose Dhanusha for our documentary because this place is important in many aspects. Nepal has got its first President from the same area. It took us six months to capture all those beauties and heritages of Dhanusha.”
